2000 HPPV Competition

Team: Handicap The team put a lot of thought into the design of their vehicle. They used both hand drawn and CAD diagrams to plan out how things should go together. They used standard bicycle pedals, but made their own pedal arms. The plate medal was drilled out to reduce weight. The highly cutomized front axle was cut to shape on a metal lathe. All the basic components are laid out prior to assembly. Here we see the completed frame, pedal and front wheel assembly. Here the team makes a test run down the school hallway. On the day of the races the team made several practice runs around the track without any problems, but they tested their vehicle once too often. During their actual timed run their vehicle suffered a major structural failure.
