1998 HPPV Competition

Team: Big Wheel The percent of non-paper weight was recalculated several times as parts were trimmed, drilled and reweighed to make the 10% limit. The Big Wheel's laminated body made it very strong, but it required a lot of gluing. The central core of the body used 1/4 inch corrugated while the built up sides were made from 1/2 inch honey-comb. An aluminum axle was drilled to accept 1/4 inch dowels that fit into slots in the corrugated wheel. Big Wheel set a new course record in 1998.
